Started in 1989 to record “through the sky” a song about the Lockerbie disaster,
the song was recorded as both an acoustic George Harrison style song and later as a rock version.
The song written by Steve Mathieson (with a little guidance from Steve Williams) and was the first song
words and music composed by Steve Mathieson
It was inspired by a fathers plea on TV to the UK government to send home his sons
body held up in red tape
The acoustic version features Steve Williams on vocal with Dave Maxwell on 12 string guitar and slide guitar
both members of T34 rock band and was
recorded on 4 track tape (later augmented by Steve Halliday on bass )
A few weeks later Steve Williams arranged for the rock version to be recorded at
Basement Studios with RadioRadio bass player Richie Rivans
who played drums, bass, lead and rhythm guitar on 8 track tape.
With both songs copywrited the songs were played on local radio
and FattKatt Studios was in business
This was the first of many songs soon to be issued on CD, others were played live and played on the radio.
Over the years the studio has been recording with 4 track and 8 track tape before converting to computerized
recordings with Cakewalk, sonar and VST,
Most of the people on Pink Floyd Recovered Vol. 1 were old friends with a few
new faces to the studio
with over 150 new songs written and hundreds of recordings and version, all have now been converted to
digital ready for remastering
and some feature famous names like
Jo O’meara (sclub) Mick Clark and John Richardson (Rubettes) Ronnie rebel (iron maiden)
